In order to slow down and hopefully even stop this damaging process, we need to start to use alternative fuels and tap in to the benefits of wind and the solar energy advantages.
The most widely known alternative fuel supply is that of solar power. Solar Power basically uses energy from the sun, which we harness and then convert into electricity supplies.
It has been said before, that the sun generates more energy in one day, than the Earth’s population would use in thirty years; And as long as the sun keeps shining we will be able to extract energy from it.
There are a number of benefits to using solar power mainly that it is free and in abundant supply. Another major benefit of using solar power is that it is friendly to the environment, animals and plant life. Where as using fossil fuels causes a lot of damage to the planet. Fossil fuels release acid rain, smog and other forms of pollution that all contribute to global warming.
It may surprise you to know that less than 1% of American electricity comes from solar generated power stations. These same figures are roughly the same througout the developed world.
By cutting down on the amount of fossil fuels that we use, we will also be lessening the risk to health that some of the side effect of burning fossil fuels cause. The knock on effect to that is, if there are less people becoming unwell, it naturally follows that the healthcare professions will be under less burder too.
There are obviously solar energy advantages to the environment but there are also financial advantages for you if you choose to switch to Solar Power in your home. Because sunlight is free, once you have installed solar power into your home, you will not have to pay for electricty again.
There are obviously some setting up costs involved with solar power but as time goes by the savings you will make will get bigger by the year, especially as the rate of domestic electricity seems to be rising all the time.
Many Governments are keen to promote the use of alternative energy supplies by people in their homes, that they have set up finanical incentives to encourage more people to do it.
Take a look in your own area -you may be pleasantly surprised to see what tax breaks are available to you so you too can have solar energy advantages in your own home.
